Sally Wiggins Pioneers New Campaign Technique – Rose Giveaway

Sally Wiggins at the Wonder Lake July 4th Parade.

While we were on vacation, Sally Wiggins filed 5,100 signatures to run for the McHenry County Circuit Court vacancy for which the Republican Party has fielded Associate Judge Gordon Graham.

Graham had no Republican primary challenger. No Democrat filed for the office either.

Wiggins, whose practice is based in Chicago and who lives in Woodstock, decided to run as an Independent. She filed 5,100 signatures. A challenge from Sharon Ann Meroni of Barrington Hills is pending.

Sunday she walked the Wonder Lake Independence Day Parade.

Judicial candidate Sally Wiggins may have been the only person in Wonder Lake wearing high heels Sunday.

In high heels.

Sally Wiggins hands out roses to women along the Wonder Lake parade route.

Handing out roses.

Most of the roses went to grown women, but some went to little girls.

I’ve never seen a candidate hand out flowers before.

The baby seems more interested in whatever it is licking than the rose Mom is accepting.

It is a very interesting campaign gimmick.

Hand shakes accompanied the roses.

The roses are certain to be taken home.

If you think only women got them, you’d be wrong.

This soldier is an active duty one.

And all  military were Veterans.  Wiggins found this Army woman in Wonder Lake.

Another man meets the rose candidate.

Posing for pictures can slow a candidate down.

Running in high heels to catch up with her parade unit is judicial candidate Sally Wiggins and young supporter.

Parades often move faster than campaigning candidates.  Here you see how a woman in high heels catches up.

Not everyone was content to take a rose and a campaign pitch.

Some people had some serious questions.

But most seem to have been pleased to get a rose, instead of a pamphlet.

A satisfied rose recipient.

As I have mentioned previously, candidates are invited to send photos of their campaign activities. I’ll get some myself at today’s Crystal Lake Independence Day Parade.
