“Total Loss”

Dads Auto Body, also of Woodstock, was more optimistic.

  1. AM SO GLAD THAT THE DEPUTY AND THE OTHER PEOPLE IN THIS CRASH WERE BASICALLY OK.
BOY, TALK ABOUT THE TAXPAYERS GETTING THE MOST FOR THEIR DOLLAR-A SIX YEAR OLD SQUAD CAR?? WITH THE MILES PUT ON THEM, EVEN THO THEY ARE DRIVEN BASICALLY BY ONE DEPUTY PER DAY, THAT’S PRETTY GOOD USAGE. I BET THAT THEY PUT CLOSE TO 40,000 MILES ON A SQUAD PER YEAR-THAT’S ALMOST 240,000 MILES! FROM AN AMERICAN CAR! SINCE THE DEPUTY WAS A FAIRLY NEW DEPUTY, I’LL BET HE DIDN’T GET THE “PICK OF THE LITTER” WHEN IT CAME TO ASSIGING HIM A SQUAD FROM THE “POOL”

  2. It was obviously a total loss. MCSD should pay Dad’s for its time to prepare the estimate! Are the AutoWeb prices the MSRP for a new 2004 Impala?

  3. Does not matter if you are “new” to get the old beater. You only have to be in the “in crowd.” Lot of good cops with yrs in get beaters.

  4. correction – “in crowd” gets the newer cars even if they are new. It is how the award system works in that department.

  5. As to what earth mother said, sound like every place I’ve ever worked, including now-some people are in and others are not-suck it up, or move on to another place that has a different “in crowd”.
And, Dad’s was just being complete-Smitty’s was just being efficent and apparent.
And Gus, it was just an OLD car-MSRP is just for brand new cars, isn’t it? Suggested retail value might be closer to what you were asking

  6. I wish I could drive a beater squad car again. Did you know at one time I was so deep in the “in crowd” that I was the first deputy to get the new model squad car? That angered a lot of deputies. Now some “malcontent” has my squad. Im taking it back from him when I return. Of course the number has been changed. Right after they trumped up that phony search warrant.
