MAHON QUESTIONS “EMERGENCY” PUBLIC RELATIONS BULLETIN
McHenry County Sheriff’s candidate Mike Mahon reacted strongly Friday to Thursday’s announcement of a new jail training program that was broadcast over an emergency alert system. The new training program is backed by a heavy corporate political donor to Sheriff Keith Nygren.
“What’s next?” Mahon asked.
“Will the Sheriff turn on the air raid sirens when he buys a new squad car from his pals at Gary Lang Chevrolet?”
Lang Auto features Nygren for Sheriff signs on its Route 31 frontage.
Thursday’s announcement concerned a new program that will train inmates in the rudiments of food preparation and related work. ARAMARK is the food service contractor in the jail, and also a heavy donor to Nygren’s political fund over the years.
Its political action committee has contributed $4,205 over the years 2002 through 2009.
Gary Lang Chevrolet is also one of Nygren’s largest political donors.
Showing that the NIXLE system was designed for emergencies and community alerts, the original email from a local Police Department announcing the program read as follows:
“The… Police Department will be using a service called NIXLE to send out community alerts through text messages and emails…. NIXLE is similar to what many colleges and universities use to notify students of emergencies and other things that are happening around campus.”
“Whether the IN2Work program is or is not worthwhile is not at issue,” Mahon said. “It may or may not be. But the timing and the method of dissemination, over a community network meant for emergencies and public warnings, are indicative of the way Sheriff Nygren uses public resources to benefit himself, and in this case, one of his big donors, and just as he’s facing the greatest political challenge of his career.
“Maybe he thinks he needs some ‘Emergency PR.’
“People in politics often talk about an ‘October surprise,” Mahon continued. “But there’s no surprise here. Sheriff Nygren used the network to boost himself and a corporate supporter with deep pockets. That’s his standard procedure, and no surprise.”

It does not matter that he takes money from supporters in return for favors.
It does not matter that Nygren lied about how much time he spends in Florida.
It does not matter that Nygren charges the county for his political campaign!

There is one set of rules for Nygren and his buddies and another for everyone else.

When he gets indited on Nov 3, we need a real Sheriff in that department!
Vote for whomever you want-Nygren will win again-may be close, but the outcome is already a given.
Many speak about “wrong doings” by Nygren-if it’s so abundant, how come NO ONE will start an investigation (and by no-one, I mean those with authority to do so, NOT opponents or their people-REAL investigations)?

In a comparative argument, which I dislike intensely, Mr. Mahon wins the prize for most compromised individual running for office in McHenry County today.
I will NOT defend Mr. Nygren’s supposed trespasses as there are courts for such things and they are still open and hearing legitimate cases last I heard.
Mr. Mahon’s case regarding his treatment of a woman and her female child WAS heard by the Illinois Appellate Court and their feelings about Mr. Mahon’s despicable behavior were clearly stated in their written response to the case.
Mr. Mahon is not promotable in the Cook County law enforcement community and wouldn’t be promotable in McHenry County outside of getting voted into office.
I understand the personal feelings against Mr. Nygren but I have yet to hear a substantive argument FOR Mr. Mahon other than wild speculation and delusions of grandeur not supported by reality.
If Mr. Mahon wins on November 2nd and he comes anywhere near my family they will have to call the coroner.
I am not taking the chance this violent and petty person will harm them in any way the way he has been found by the Appellate Court to have done already.
Partisanship is NOT the motivation to vote for or against someone like Mr. Mahon. His record clearly tells us what he is and he is an unqualified monster.
I want to continuously improve this county but voting in this terrifying person due to revenge motives or petty partisanship is NOT an improvement.
IF Mr. Nygren is found guilty of any of the wild accusations leveled at him in the future he will be removed from office and his very qualified Undersheriff will run the office in his stead.
I BEG the Democratic Party to find a QUALIFIED individual and one without a history of abusing women and children to run next time. It diminishes the Party and the Cause to promote Mr. Mahon at all.
THEN we can have a comparative talk about issues rather than the horror of worrying about Mr. Mahon’s next violent outburst.

If running for office in McHenry County would you expect to have more than 2 contributions to come from within the county??

It is hit and run mudslinging, pro racer. When your attacks on a person won’t hold up to any scrutiny all you can do is throw the mud out there and move on quickly before there is any follow up. As disgusting as it is, it is simply how the Mahon campaign has chosen to operate.
