One of Pagano’s Girlfriends Found by WMAQ’s Phil Rogers

Here's how the story was introduced by WMAQ-TV December 9, 2010.

Metra Executive Director Phil Pagano, a Crystal Lake resident who was appointed to his post by a Republican Board of Directors, was not only a crook, but a cad.

Attorney James Sotos explaining that Phil Pagano had told him he did nothing illegal or immoral.

A liar, too, because he told Metra investigating attorney James Sotos that nothing he did was illegal or immoral.

But Metra found love notes and canceled checks among Pagano’s personal effects the day after he killed himself.

Metra officials didn’t tell the public about that, however.

Channel 5’s Phil Rogers tracked down a former masseuse from Northwest Indiana massage parlor who said she had a relationship with Pagano that ended in 2005. They met via eHarmony.

Now living in New Mexico (she moved about a month after Pagano committee suicide), the 61-year old girlfriend told Rogers that Pagano was “a liar and a thief.”

“He was such a proficient liar,” she told Rogers.

Pagano told the woman he was widowed and had pancreatic cancer.

Two more lies.

Phil Rogers tells NBC 5's 10 o'clock news audience what he has found.

A source told Channel 5 that a canceled $10,000 check was found among Pagano’s personal effects. It was to another woman.

This, plus other personal effects were turned over to Pagano’s wife Barbara by Metra.

And guess what?

“The woman’s name came to light the first day after Pagano’s suicide,” according to the NBC News story.

Metra officials will have some interesting answers as to why they kept this information secret.

There’s more. Read the WMAQ-TV story.
