The Northwest Herald has engaged a call center in Minnesota to call local non-subscribers with a low-cost, introductory offer to its paper.
I have gotten three calls in about the last two weeks.
The first offer was $1.60 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Maybe Thursday was included as well.
I told the polite young man that was not as good as the last time I subscribed. Then, it was a penny for six months that turned out to be seven or maybe even a bit more.
The other three calls offered me the whole week for $2.50 a week for ten weeks.
As one young man said, “Ten weeks for $25.”
People who work in call centers have really tough jobs.
I always tell them that.
There is tremendous turnover because of the constant rejection.
Anyone else getting calls like this?
They called me three times in two weeks, even though I told the first person that I did not wish to subscribe. I guess they can call me because I was a previous customer. Next time I might just have to tell them to put me on the Do Not Call List. Then, when they call again, I’ll just invoice them for $5,000 for each call.
