Sarah Jansen Recognized for Winning Liquor License Case

A press release from the State’s Attorney’s Office:

ASSISTANT STATE’S ATTORNEY RECEIVES AWARD FOR
OUTSTANDING WORK AS LITIGATOR

Louis A. Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, is pleased to announce that Assistant State’s Attorney, Sarah B. Jansen, will receive the Annual Litigation Award by the Illinois Institute for Local Government Law for her work on the case of Koehler v. Illinois Liquor Control Commission which she recently successfully argued before the Second District Appellate Court of Illinois.

The award was announced at the luncheon during the annual conference of the Institute held today, February 18, 2011, at the Northern Illinois University Campus, in Naperville, Illinois.

Ms. Jansen successfully argued that the McHenry County Local Liquor Control Commission appropriately revoked the liquor license of a Mobil Speed Mart (near McHenry) for selling alcohol to a minor, in violation of local and state laws.

The Illinois State Liquor Commission had reduced the revocation, to a temporary suspension. That decision was affirmed by a McHenry County Judge and Ms. Jansen
persuaded the Appellate Court to reverse – and RE-INSTATED the REVOCATION.
