A Ponzi scheme discovered in the summer of 2009 in which evangelical churches, including at least one in this area, were targeted has been playing out in Sullivan County, Indiana.
The Reeves’ family solicited investments through their firm Alanar from churches, agreeing to pay high interest rates. The money was usually being accumulated for church construction projects.
The most recent activity has been the agreement of Josh Reeves, 34, to testify against his father. His brother Chris also agreed to a plea deal.
The father, Vaughn “Chip” Reeves, got a 54-year sentence.
