The Daily Herald’s Jake Griffin did a piece looking at health insurance costs for major townships in the suburbs.
There are often pension benefits as well, as the Rockford Register-Star found.
There were four townships examined in McHenry County:
- Algonquin
- Grafton
- McHenry
- Nunda
McHenry Township Supervisor Donna Schaefer gets a paragraph:
“‘That’s ridiculous,’ said McHenry Township Supervisor Donna Schaefer, whose township offers health care benefits to full-time elected officials but requires them to cover some of the costs. ‘That’s what gives township government a bad name.’”
You can see the results of the research, including a highest to lowest ranking here.
I’m shocked that the amazingly efficient Grafton Township has such high costs. They NEED to make a video of how not to run a township (just record their everyday actions) and sell them like hotcakes! They are just a joke after joke!
