“Bought” or “Rented?”

Observers of the Springfield scene often point out that most legislators can’t be “bought.”

But they can be “rented.”

That came to mind as I was reading a Chicago Tribune story about Pabst m moving its headquarters from Woodridge to Los AngelesĀ  this summer

It wasn’t that long ago that Illinois was celebrating Pabst’s move from San Antonio to 0ur state.

2006, the story says.

The Rod Blagojevich administration paid Pabst almost $1 million in incentives and training money.

Guess there wasn’t a clause saying the company had to stay ten years or refund the corporate welfare.

The Tribune even gave the Chicagoist blog credit for originating the story.
