This weekend while I was trying to figure out the shifting of population among congressional districts that concerned McHenry County and its two congressmen–Don Manzullo and Joe Walsh–I searched in vain for township-by-township population figures.
Now that governments are back in operation and phones being answered, I have found assistance at the Census Bureau and figured if I were having problems finding the information, I might as well publish it where a Google search would bring it up.
So, here are the 2012 numbers for each of McHenry County’s 17 townships:
Alden – 1,402
Algonquin – 88,389
Burton – 5,003
Chemung – 9,134
Coral – 3,552
Dorr – 20,911
Dunham – 2,844
Grafton – 53,137
Greenwood – 13,900
Hartland – 2,031
Hebron – 2,356
Marengo – 7,564
McHenry – 47,653
Nunda – 38,245
Richmond – 6,683
Riley – 2,922
Seneca – 2,944
This should total 308,760.
I was looking at Census data also.
Lots of interesting statistics.

I also looked at Hispanic/Latino vs Non-Hispanic/Latino.
Because I wanted to quantify the influx.
By the way in mid-late 1800’s some towns in the region had to hire German speaking teachers due to the influx of German immigrants.
