Groundwater Loss in McHenry County to Be Measured

A press release from the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County:

ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENDERS ASSISTING IN GROUNDWATER STUDY

WOODSTOCK – The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County are providing assistance to the Illinois State Water Survey in a study of the County’s groundwater system.

In the 1990’s the Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) conducted a study in which the water level in about 600 McHenry County wells was measured. The wells, mostly residential, were located throughout the county and were individually visited by ISWS staff who measured the water level in each well.

This data enabled the ISWS to map the water levels in our sand and gravel aquifers and resulted in the publication, in 1998, of a landmark study titled “Groundwater Studies for Environmental Planning, McHenry County Illinois” by Scott Meyer.

This study greatly increased the understanding of the county’s groundwater resources and served as the basis for much of the later research into the County’s groundwater supply, including that used in preparation of the County’s current Water Resources Action Plan.

Now, the County and the ISWS are in the process of updating the Meyer study.

This appears to be the deep aquifers that were mapped in 1994 by the Illinois Water Survey.

This update will show what changes have occurred in groundwater levels during the past 17 –21 years, and will also enable verification of recent groundwater flow modeling techniques.

To develop the new data, ISWS staff must re-measure the water levels in as many of the 600 previously measured wells as possible.

The measurement is free and can be performed with or without the homeowner present, depending on their preference.

It will take about 15 minutes during which ISWS staff will remove the cap of the well, lower a disinfected steel measuring tape, calculate the water depth, reattach the well cap and replace rusted nuts and bolts as needed.

The ISWS needs to secure permission from well owners, which is a very time consuming process as people have moved and phone numbers have changed.

The Environmental Defenders have volunteered to contact well owners to secure permission for ISWS to measure water levels.

During the next few weeks, Defenders members will be telephoning or hand delivering messages to addresses that previously had well levels measured. For more information, please contact the Defenders’ office at 815-338-0393 or at mcdef@owc.org.

The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and improvement of the environment. The group provides community residents with educational programs and volunteer action on pollution prevention, sustainable land use and energy and natural resource conservation. Donations are encouraged and are tax-deductible as charitable contributions.

  1. This sounds all fine and good. Everybody loves the environment, right? Nobody wants to ruin the environment. And knowledge about the aquifers is useful information.

But you have to look behind the curtain to see who is pulling the levers.

This study, while useful, might very well be something else. Something very much more sinister.

In 1992, at Rio, the UN environmentalists created UN Agenda 21 – a plan to “save the planet” and to control humanity in the process. The resultant treaty signed by Clinton and presented to the Senate was literally “defeated” at the last hour when it was discovered exactly what the master plan was.

The “master plan” is to reclaim ~50% of the lower 48 states as WILD LANDS, devoid of human presence. The Senate balked at agreeing with the idea of confiscating large parts of America, including private property, and herding Americans into selected urban areas in order to provide wilderness for animals.

Despite the fact that the treaty was never ratified, the Clinton administration proceeded as if it were by ordering EPA and Interior to perform to the necessary “diversity” and “sustainability” studies to provide a framework for both states and “Non Government Organization” (the Sierra Club, Audubon Society, and local “environmentalist” or “environmental defender clubs”) to plot a strategy to implement Agenda 21 (which became known as the “Wildlands Project” in the USA).

The actual effect of Agenda 21 and Wildlands is that every proposal for a “wildlife refuge” or “environmental survey” or “farm environmental regulation” needs to be viewed as a gateway towards the ultimate goal of Agenda 21 – the termination of property rights and government ownership of all rural property in America – for the convenience of wildlife. This conversion into wildlands would put half of America totally off limit to human occupation or use.

This is what the man behind the curtain is doing. And what levers he is pulling.

Information on Agenda 21 can be found at http://www.takingliberty.us/TLHome.html. I urge everyone to go through the presentation and note where the Agenda 21/Wildlands project is at today.

It should be noted that this month, while we were obsessing about former Rep. Anthony Weiner, Obama issued Executive Order 13575—”Establishment of the White House Rural Council” with out any fanfare. I recommend that everybody read it with the understanding that it is the camel’s nose in the tent. This stealth EO can be found at http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/DCPD-201100431/pdf/DCPD-201100431.pdf

I’ve looked at the Environmental Defenders web site mcdef.org, and it is clear that if they are not formally part of Agenda 21, they support their goals of opposing development, “controlling” farming through the “conversion of existing monoculture farmlands into sustainable agriculture uses….”

Private property is what made America different from our European heritage. The socialists at the UN, in coordination with the American socialists behind the “environmentalist” movement, are working overtime to implement that fundamental tenant of the Communist Manifesto – the abolition of private property.

Be watchful, citizens of McHenry County. Make sure that what you cherish most isn’t stolen out from under you. Both the real estate developers AND the environmentalists are your enemy.
