Congressman Walsh was one of just 46 Representatives to be honored with the award for the 112th Congress, scoring a perfect 100 percent on this year’s scorecard.

The award honors Members of Congress who have exhibited extraordinary leadership and commitment to the defense of family, faith and freedom, according to FRC Action’s scorecard covering the votes of the First Session of the 112th Congress. Recipients of the “True Blue” Award voted consistently for pro-life and pro-family issues.

Votes included:

  • Repealing the Health Care Law
  • Defunding Planned Parenthood
  • D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program
  • No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act
  • Protecting the Defense of Marriage Act within the Military
  • Presidential Nominations Act

Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins made the following comments:

“We thank Congressman Walsh who has voted consistently to defend faith, family and freedom. Congressman Walsh and other ‘True Blue Members’ have voted to repeal Obamacare, defund Planned Parenthood, end government funding for abortion within the health care law, uphold the Defense of Marriage Act and continue support for school choice.

“I applaud their commitment to uphold the institutions of marriage and family,” concluded Perkins.

Congressman Walsh commented:

“I am proud and honored to be recognized by the Family Research Council as the only Member from Illinois with a 100 percent pro-family voting record. Defending American values have always been one of my top priorities, and this reward reaffirms my dedication to that fight.”

  1. Pro Family? What a crock!

Repealing the Health Care Law – Good thing “families” don’t get sick, right?
Protecting the Defense of Marriage Act within the Military – And “family” starts with a man & woman. The rest of you should move to scandanavia, or something.

Why not just call it the Family Republican Council, or Republican Research Council. What a joke.

Rich white people just need another award to give one another while the majority of “people” in their constituency are left-out and marginalized. Congratulations, Joe Walsh, on your prestigious ranking. Life’s certainly been good to you so far.

  2. How family oriented is Joe Walsh when he did not pay his child support and went off with another woman, his current wife, on vacations while he did not live up to his promises.

  3. From Capitol fax: Group rates Walsh votes perfect, but actually backs opponent

And if you check the Family Research Council’s political action committee website, you’ll see that they’re currently backing Hultgren. That’s probably why Walsh sent out his press release touting his 100 percent rating. He’s obfuscating the issue here. But, again, all he really did was prompt the Sun-Times and others to write more stories about his personal problems.
