  1. There’s all kinds tactics used to keep the deer herd in control.

In addition to public hunting, I have heard the Illinois Department of Natural Resources or the McHenry County Conservation District, or both, have at times employed people to further cull the herd, to control the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). Not a popular decision with hunters not employed by those agencies.

The main shotgun deer hunting season is Nov. 18-20 and Dec. 1-4, 2011.
Public hunting including shotgun is allowed in Moraine Hills State Park.

A few McHenry County Conservation District Properties permit shotgun, and even more allow archery.
    – Brookdale Greever (Woodstock).
    – Rush Creek Conservation Area (Harvard – Hartland Township).
    – Pleasant Valley Conservation Area (Woodstock).
    – Glacial Park (Ringwood).
    – Kishwaukee Corridor Conservation Area (Marengo Township).
    – more.

You need a firearm owners ID (FOID) card, hunting license, and deer permit.

There are various other dates for muzzle loading, CWD, Later Winter Anterless, and archery.

Only 3 deer in McHenry County were identified as having CWD.

The government culled 90 deer in McHenry County listed in the above report, plus who knows how many additional.

  2. Mchenry county dnr has devistated the deer population starting the day after hunting season ends.

They have been baiting and shooting deer for the past several years, Rifle and bait.

The debate will go on for years right wrong or in-different how ever I question the location mary Ann BeBe center on streight road in harvard The girl scout camp.

A place of sanctuary for wild life as well as the thousands of children who use the grounds. Safe legal or even ethical?

I dont know I do know one thing no child of mine will be attending another sleep over on the premise of Mary Ann BeBe center. allegedly 170 deer were harvested by Mchenry county dnr in a couple month period.

I would like to know if this is a sanctioned act by the girl scouts or perhaps a mis understanding?

I do know they have shot many deer there for many years.

    Though you should know.
