While in Washington this week, I met with an outstanding group of eight students from Woodstock High, Woodstock North High School, and Marion High School who were in town for the Building Drug-Free Communities Conference. Keep up the great work!
Today’s announcement that the Obama Administration will compromise on the recent contraceptive mandate is just another political move by the President.
At the end of the day, religious institutions still have to provide healthcare plans with free contraceptive services.
The reaction of the American people this week gives me great hope that we won’t stand for more attacks on our Constitution. Obamacare at its core is un-American.
This affront to our religious freedom is just the latest piece of evidence.
Yesterday I voted in favor of the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act. Members of Congress, should not get any special privileges, and under no circumstances should they be allowed to use insider information to profit on the stock market.
We should not be held to anything less or awarded any ‘breaks’ that sets us apart from the American people we were elected to represent.
This week in Washington, Rep. Gerry Connolly (VA-11) and I introduced the Small Business Protection Act of 2012. The Small Business Administration (SBA) has recently proposed new group size standards that define what businesses qualify as “small” for taxing and contracting purposes.
For the first time, these standards lump different industries together under one size standard inevitably giving big corporations an unfair advantage over small businesses.
This bill ensures that small businesses do not have to compete with glabal corporations to create jobs in our local communities.
