59-Year Old Man, Formerly of Algonquin, Gets Nine Years for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault

ANDREW SPANIER SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT

Louis A. Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 59 year old Andrew Spanier, formerly of Algonquin, was sentenced to nine years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the class X felony offense of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault.

Andrew Spanier, having been convicted of a sex offense, must serve 85% of his sentence.

The Defendant was found guilty after a jury trial.

At trial, the State presented evidence that Andrew Spanier raped a woman after she went to his house in search of employment as a child caretaker and house cleaner.

This case was investigated by Detective John Bucci of the Algonquin Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally.
