Last week, the Illinois State Board of Elections ruled that Dee Beaubien can remain on the ballot.

I immediately decided to appeal the decision to the Illinois Courts because I think that our challenge to her politically motivated candidacy is solid.

However, I’ve changed my mind and decided not to appeal the decision.

I’ve known for months that Democratic Speaker Michael Madigan has been behind Dee’s candidacy.

The Madigan involvement was confirmed last week by filings with the Illinois State Board of Elections that Madigan staffers are running Dee’s campaign.

I still believe that her signing of partisan Primary petitions disqualifies Dee from running as an Independent.

However, the voters of the 52nd District deserve the important debate that will occur over the next few months.

The choice will be clear.

I’m a businessman who will fight for policies that will protect and create jobs.

I’ll continue to promote a positive vision and action plan for lower taxes, less spending and real reform.

The Madigan/Beaubien policies of higher taxes and more spending will drive our great state into further turmoil. I personally respect Speaker Madigan and Dee.

This will be a race solely based on the issues.

Soon it will be time for the voters to decide which vision they choose.

I am totally committed to this race as is my better half, my wife Margaret, who recently underwent breast cancer surgery and will soon begin radiation treatment.  With her support and inspiration I will press on with a thorough discussion of the issues.   Thank you to all of our friends and supporters for their thoughts and prayers.
