Larry W. Smith, Independent candidate for McHenry County Board Dist. 6, recently met with Dick Allender of the Illinois Department of Insurance.

Mr. Allender, the supervisor of the Property and Casualty, Consumer Services division, spoke at the Illinois Mutual Insurance Companies conference.

“Mr. Allender’s insights as to the current status of insurance regulations in Illinois were very educational,” notes Mr. Smith. “Insurance costs are a large part of the county budget and insurance issues affect benefit packages when negotiating contracts.”

Mr. Smith went on to say, “The conference was a great opportunity for me to network with insurance officials and learn more about the insurance industry. These relationships and this very specialized knowledge will be critical in providing leadership should I be elected to the county board. “

Mr. Allender also provided several examples of what led to consumer complaints and how the insurance industry can work to help avoid such complaints. If you have a complaint or questions regarding policy renewal, cancellation, or nonrenewal, you can email: Dick Allender, Consumer Services Unit, email dick.allender@illinois.gov
