McSweeney Anti-Madigan Campaign Surfaces

State Senator Dan Duffy shook hands with people along the Lake in the Hills Labor Day Festival parade route.

Of the candidates for the Illinois General Assembly having parts of Lake in the Hills, only State Senator Dan Duffy showed up in person.

A volunteer for Mike Tryon passes out goodies at the Lake in the Hills Labor Day Parade.

State Rep. Mike Tryon, who has no opponent, sent a car with his name on the side, plus volunteers to pass out candy.

But unopposed State Senate candidate Karen McConnaughay’s name went unmentioned.

And neither candidate in the 52nd State Rep. District showed up in the parade.

Republican candidate Dave McSweeney was elsewhere, as was Independent challenger Dee Beaubien.

But, I didn’t know that there political booths at the event.

Fox River Grove Republican Precinct Committeeman Andrew Gasser, an active volunteer for McSweeney, put up at article on his blog about a booth that McSweeney had there.

And there was the photo you see above.

It is significant not only for its showing of McSweeney’s flag in Lake in the Hills, but for it anti-Mike Madigan message.

Why is that significant?

Because Dee Beaubien is running as an Independent.

However, Illinois Democratic Party Chairman and House Speaker Mike Madigan has provided two field workers, an over $8,000 poll, plus two mailings in support of her campaign.

Little wonder that I think Beaubien should be referred to as “Dee Beaubien (Ind.-Madigan).”

And, yes, the Chicago Tribune’s John Kass inspired me.

As soon as it became obvious that Mike Madigan was supporting Dee Beaubien’s campaign big time, Gasser put what you see below on his blog:

Andrew Gasser made visual Democrat Mike Madigan’s financial support for “Independent” Dee Beaubien.

If I were running McSweeney’s campaign, I would have had four by four foot signs with this message all over the district two weeks ago.

  1. So, just to clarify I am following your logic, if McSweeney gets money from different lobbyist organizations/PACs, does that mean that he should be running as a (Republican- AT&T, Arlington Race Track, Associated Beer Distributors, Contractors for Free Enterprise, Excelon, Family PAC, For the Good of Illinois PAC, Friends for Jim Oberweis, We Mean Business)?

Because, clearly, if someone donates money to a certain candidate they are going to suscribe to the very ideologies that the donors follow.

As well, they will subscribe to all the radical elements of a donor’s ideology and be completely incapable of following their very own, self created and motivated political logic concerning issues or voting.

Final point, the listed donors above have contributed a grand total of $20,000+ to McSweeney far dwarfing the $8,000 that Madigan has to Beaubians campaign.

Just food for though, but – as you know from your political experience Cal – donating money and staffers is not enough to guaruntee Beaubian’s unconditional support to the Speaker.

To conclude, efforts are not radically different than most other state’s speakers of house and how the run campaigns.

Sorry Cal, this logic is a farse.

    Good day.

  2. You are not citing the total commitment of Mike Madigan and his Democratic Party to Dee Beaubien.

There was $8,400 for a poll reported on August 25th.

$5,300 for two mailings the last week of August.

$2,400 for two staffers reported Sept. 1st.

$2,400 for two staffers reported Aug. 16th.

$2,400 for two staffers reported Aug. 3rd.

    That totals about $20,900.

And, if you are going to accuse my locial of being a farce, please learn how to spell the word.

  3. Fair enough, I did not cite all the dollars, but was using the stat you provided above.

Regardless, that is not the most important part of my argument.

The fallicies named straw man, needling and argument of dismissal were all used in your comment/initial post to counter my arguments/ Dee’s candidacy.

You needled my argument by claiming I can’t spell in an effort to dismiss my otherwise well thought out case.

You initially used straw man to exaggerate Beaubian’s candidacy claiming her to be a pawn of Madigan because she is receiving funds.

Finally you used the fallacy argument of dismall by not addressing my use of your post’s logic that if Beaubian should run as Ind.-Madigan that her opponent ought to run as a R – AT&T, Arlington, etc. candidate.

Not off the hook this time Cal.

I’ll be looking forward to more accurate posts/comments with less fallacy arguments.

  4. If Dee Beaubien does not vote for Madigan for House Speaker I shall be the most surprised person in Illinois.

And, as for spelling. I make plenty of mistakes, too.

    Sorry for the cheap shot.
