A press release from State Rep. Mike Tryon:

State Representative Mike Tryon Named “Champion of Free Enterprise,” Earns Perfect Score from Illinois Chamber of Commerce

Springfield, Ill. – State Representative Mike Tryon (R-Crystal Lake) is one of only six State Representatives from the Illinois House to receive a perfect score of 100% by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce in their 2011-2012 review of legislators’ votes that support business.

Each year the Illinois Chamber recognizes those legislators whose voting records most support the business community with their Champions of Free Enterprise Awards.

“It is a pleasure to accept this distinction, as it validates my commitment to making Illinois a more business-friendly state,” said Tryon.

The Chamber’s ratings are based on legislators’ votes on the key business legislation in the General Assembly.

The votes in the Senate and House are selected based on their impact on the business community and, to a lesser extent, the gap between opposing views on the issue.

The votes are weighted accordingly.

In cases where more than one roll call was taken on a bill, the most significant vote impacting the resolution of the issue has been selected.

For 2011-2012, the Illinois Chamber studied legislators’ votes on House Bills 0223, 1297, 1530, 1703, and 5192, and on Senate Bills 0115, 1313, 2194, 2485, 2505, 2958, 3522, 3616, 3672 and 3766.

“There is no greater issue of importance for Illinoisans right now that creating jobs and promoting business growth,” said Tryon.

“As a legislator, it is an issue I take very seriously because we’ve got to get our citizens back to work.”

Legislators with Illinois Chamber ratings averaging 85% or better over the previous three General Assemblies have demonstrated their commitment to legislation that frees the entrepreneurial spirit and therefore qualify for the award.

  1. Yes, going back to work is so much more important than the fact that we are dieing from the poison they put in our public water supply.
