Walsh Brings Up VA Lawsuit Against Duckworth

Before last night’s radio debate, Joe Walsh and Tammy Duckworth debated on CLTV.

A press release from Congressman Joe Walsh:

Duckworth Lies to Voters at Tonight’s Debate

Denies VA lawsuit against her, despite clear evidence to the contrary

Tonight, AM560 WIND and WCPT hosted the first and only in-district debate between Congressman Joe Walsh and Tammy Duckworth.

Many issues were debated including Medicare, the debt, ObamaCare and education.

In addition, Walsh pressed Tammy Duckworth on her tenure at the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), which included 12 violations from the Inspector General and illegal use of a government vehicle.

Going further, Walsh brought to light an ongoing lawsuit from DVA employees that charge Duckworth with

  • wrongful termination and
  • public humiliation.

In the case, the Plaintiff filed a complaint against a supervisor for allowing political campaigning on VA property.

Duckworth received the complaint and subsequently terminated the employee who made the complaint and allegedly instructed the other Plaintiff to “keep her mouth shut” and she could keep job.

Duckworth denied Walsh’s claim that she is currently being sued, but court documents prove an ongoing lawsuit against Tammy Duckworth, where it’s alleged Duckworth “intentionally humiliated” one employee and threatened the other’s job.

Walsh later stated, “I was truly hoping we could have a serious debate where we could discuss all the issues.

“While Ms. Duckworth stuck to her talking points, I tried to make clear to voters how I would get us back on a fiscally responsible path and get Americans back to work.”

Walsh concluded,

“However what really concerned me is that tonight Ms. Duckworth lied to every voter in the 8th district.

“When I asked if she was being sued for terminating and humiliating employees that tried to expose political corruption, she said that was not true.

“Unfortunately for Ms. Duckworth and the taxpayer, who is footing her legal bill for the past three years, she is currently being sued and she should come clean about what happened during her time at the Illinois VA.”

Walsh Brings Up VA Lawsuit Against Duckworth — 6 Comments

  1. So- Ms. Duckworth is being sued by some spineless public agency leeches who didn’t like how they were treated by their boss(in other words, she spoke to them as adults, not 8 year old princesses) and Mr. Walsh uses that as fodder against her? That’s the most important thing he can discuss?

Doesn’t Mr. Walsh recall that people can file lawsuits without demonstrating that they have evidence to support their claims in their suit?

Or did Mr. Walsh forget the lawsuit he was recently involved in?

    What a loser.

  2. Usually the one doing the finger-pointing is the one guilty of the exact same thing. Hmmm….

  3. Duckworth could have answered like the two above or even refused ot comment…however she didn’t.

She denied the lawsuit existed despite the clear fact it does.

Very troubling from an integrity standpoint.

  4. I soon hope to have a link to the January, 2009, suit, which apparently has not been dismissed.

  5. Turns out the lawsuit these women filed is their second attempt at extorting money from the state- you can read about their failed 2008 suit, dismissed without predjudice here:

They worked at the Anna VA Hospital. ‘Nuf said.

The plaintiff’s attorneys have stretched this current case out since 2009. There might be a court date in 2012.

If I’m Joe Walsh, I don’t hitch my wagon to this lawsuit- unless he’s looking for the corrupt state worker vote…

  6. @butseriouslynow/anonymous- Another possible explanation for Ms. Duckworth’s characterization of the lawsuit is that she was repeating information that State of Illinois attorneys gave her.

It is conceivable that any public documentation of this case’s final disposition wouldn’t occur until the scheduled December hearing.

Which is a fine way of manipulating the process.
