Dee Beaubien Kicks In Another $50,000

Dee Beaubien

When Ron Wait was running for the State Rep. seat I passed up to run for State Comptroller in 1982, he asked Mort Zwick what he should do to win the primary election against Jim Kelley, an appointed incumbent.

“Spend money like water,” was the advice of then-pork belly trader Zwick, who got his wife Jill elected State Rep. in 1980 when I vacated a seat to run an unsuccessful race for Congress.

Although I doubt Dee Beaubien has talked to Mort, she is following his advice.

Monday she reported putting another $50,000 in her campaign fund.

That brings the total to $236,500.

In addition, Beaubien reported receiving

  • $4,600 – Personal PAC
  • $2,000 – Marena Love, Winnetka
  • $1,000 – Robert T. Brumbaugh, Jr., President, Omnibus Advertising, Inverness
  • $1,000 – Springfield Partners LLC, Effingham

Working my way to the amount Dee Beaubien has given her campaign, I discovered she had returned $16,000 to the Friends of Mike Madigan.

Wonder what that means.

Beaubien is running as an Independent against Republican David McSweeney.

  1. So much for balance…

No mention of the fact that McSweeney has also given himself $243,459.12 for the primary and general elections this cycle.

  2. This is the simplest election ever.

A vote for Beaubien guarantees Mike Madigan a vote for Speaker of the House and 4 more years of bankrupt politics.

A vote for McSweeney guarantees a vote for Tom Cross and the hope that Illinois can achieve fiscal solvency in the next decade.

  3. Hey Jim – want to put a wage on whether or not the 52nd district matters in terms of the next Speaker?

Madigan won’t lose his leadership spot, regardless of whether or not Dee wins.

  4. Interesting that Dee has contributed two times to Tina Hill’s fund.

    $1,000 total.

Word is that Tina believes she will replace Ken Koehler as County Chair.

    Interesting.

Also interesting is that Tina’s P and D committee approved Housing dollars to the offspring of Koehler and Eldridge after the Housing Commission denied the request.

Now, the NWH states that request has been withdrawn.

    To repeat: Interesting.

  5. If Hill gets the chairmanship you can be assured of MORE of the last 8 years under Koehler.

    DO YOU REALLY WANT THAT?

  6. “The Oncoming Storm” you’re correct…

    Dee will need the rest.
