Roden Releases Letter from County Board Supporters

Jim Roden

A letter that Crystal Lake Democrat Jim Roden is distributing:

Hi Neighbors & Friends:

A vote for our neighbor Jim Roden in the McHenry County Board District 2 election is effectively a vote against Ken Koehler, and a great way to give Jim Roden—longtime resident, neighbor, small-business owner, and community volunteer—the opportunity he deserves to prove himself as one of our new McHenry County Board District 2 representatives. Today was the first day of early voting in Illinois.

A letter to the editor about Jim, written by Village of Lakewood resident Andrew Rosulek, was published in today’s Northwest Herald (“Fourth Spot”). Please consider taking just a few minutes to read it for a brief perspective/strategy on the District 2 County Board race that has the potential to unseat current District 2 seat holder (and Chairman of the McHenry County Board) Ken Koehler, a man—whose baggage—is, after many years of his service, now unfortunately weighing down the inner workings of the Board.

Here’s the letter: http://www.nwherald.com/2012/10/19/fourth-spot/ayv9xzg/

(Link will be live for only one week before archiving, so a Word doc is also attached.)

Finally, for those of you who do not reside in County Board District 2 but know voters in District 2, please send this email to your favorite District 2 voters. Generally speaking, if you (or they) live within the area bounded by IL 31 to the east, Algonquin Road to the south, Huntley and Swanson Roads to the west, and Crystal Lake Avenue to the north, there’s a good chance you (or they) vote for District 2 County Board representation.

Best regards,

Friends of Jim Roden for McHenry County Board District 2

P.S. Please note: Jim Roden isn’t running for Chairman; Roden’s simply in a position to replace Koehler in his District 2 Board seat that Koehler needs in order to stay on the Board at all.

P.P.S. Know that your well-informed vote for County Board makes a difference. Sadly, during the primaries in March, fewer than 20% of McHenry County registered voters showed up at the polls. Four out of five people sat it out! Only ONE IN FIVE went to the polls! You definitely make a difference.

The letter from Rosulek:

Anti-Koehler voters: Failure to cast any of your four votes for Jim Roden—Koehler’s most competitive McHenry County Board District 2 challenger—allows pro-Koehler voters to safeguard Koehler.

Do District 2 voters require County Board approval to popularly un-elect its chairman? Not when one of November’s contested District 2 seats comes down to incumbent Koehler vs. challenger Roden.

To review: 1) Serious anti-Koehler, GOP voters will need to hold their noses and vote for Roden, a Democrat, the strongest anti-Koehler candidate. 2) Votes for Roden must outnumber Koehler (R) and Kennedy (D) (Kennedy’s mojo-less this election, and would now be a wasted dilutive vote, potentially in Koehler’s favor).

In conclusion, District 2 voters: Kurtz, Schofield, and Heisler will be fine at the polls (they’ll easily win three seats through name recognition alone). To send Koehler packing, Roden must take that fourth spot. Vote for Roden.

  1. Sure wish I could vote in District 2 and unseat Koehler.

Lots of truth in Jim Roden’s letter.

It’s a joke when Koehler talks about saving money, when many of the deals Koehler has influenced, like the purchase of the insurance company building at Virginia and Woodstock streets for animal control, have cost us millions.

Jim Roden had a front row seat in the machinations of Koehler and political pals to pressure Metra to purchase Koehler’s Ridgefield property.

are there any other Koehler deals floating out there?

You can put them to rest by replacing Ken Koehler with Jim Roden.

  2. How is it that people with little to no knowledge of the duties of the County Board Chair howl to replace him when the Chair watches over one of the most financially solvent counties in the State.

Ken is respected by his peers in the other collar counties and is a real asset to McHenry County.

  3. Being “financially solvent” has been accomplished by taxing McHenry County residents to the max.

Now, let’s see, just how many people saw their tax bill go down this year? or any of the last 5 years or so?

Jim, there are some of us who DO know what the duties of the Chairman are SUPPOSED to be and cutting deals for yourself, and others close to you, isn’t one of them (duties).

If I see someone rushing up to hug Koehler in the courthouse, can I assume that it’s you, Jim?

  4. jim roden was the WORST performer at the debate at MCC!

I wonder if he has any brain cells.

I would rather have any one else in there instead of him.

Ken Kohler is a better county board member then Jim Roden could ever imagine being
