At the Illinois Republican Convention in Tinley Park last year, Congressman Joe Walsh got a standing ovation.

This morning former Congressman Joe Walsh released a statement in regards to the current state of the Illinois Republican Party and its chairman.

“Two weeks ago, I publicly called on Pat Brady to step down as Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party.

“Pat is a good guy, but as he has still not retracted his public statements on same sex marriage, again, I call on him to step down.

“He can’t, in his position as Chairman of the Party, publicly refute a major piece of our Party’s Platform. It was a slap at all Republicans who believe in traditional marriage.

“The Republican Party is a big tent and welcomes all viewpoints.

“Pat can have his own individual positions, but the Chairman of the Party must publicly support the Platform and be one of its most ardent spokespersons.

“Pat Brady is no longer in a position to be that spokesperson. For the good of the Party, he should step down.”

  1. Joe Walsh speaks out to defend “traditional marriage”?

Is it April Fool’s Day already?

He cannot be serious, can he?

  2. Gee, I guess I was naive when I thought Joe’s 15 minutes of fame was over when he lost the election.

I’m really tired of hearing from this guy

  3. It’s the dems that can’t tolerate Joe, hope he sticks around for a long time.

He speaks the language of conservatives and will continue to be supported by conservatives.

His decision to run against Duckworth in a gerrymandered district was in the best interests of the Republican Party and will be remembered as such.

His other choice was to run against his good friend and fellow Congressman Randy Hultgren which would have knocked one or the other.

    Hope Joe stays around.

And what about term limits for all of these politicians?

Madigan is certainly not in favor of term limits.

  4. Thanks, Joe, for your service and your continued support of conservative values in the People’s Republic of Illinois!

  5. I understand your points Jim-

If i were a Republican party official I’d probably agree with you.

But To the issue at hand: Can a divorcee who was embroiled ina such a public fight to pay child support be a spokesman for “traditional marriage”?

Is that really an issue you can find him credible on?
