More Burglaries in the Western Part of Circulation Area

A message and advice from Marengo’s Kristin Ottolino:

To all members of the Citizen’s Alert Network,

Again, one of your fellow Citizen’s Alert Network members have reported a burglary to us. I know this information to be accurate as your fellow member is friends with the owner of this house.

On Wednesday, February 6th, there was a burglary on Kelley Rd. in Hampshire. The burglars took a jewelry box and oddly enough, the shower head.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Department had apprehended this burglar for another burglary WHILE the Hampshire police were at the Hampshire home taking the report. The police were able to return a family heirloom to this home in Hampshire, so kudos to them, but there are no details as to how many suspects there were, or what time of day this happened.

As usual, there was no mention of this in the Northwest Herald. So how many does this make now? Over 20 that WE know of? I’m sure there are more we have not heard of. I wonder how long before the Northwest Herald actually picks this up. Just sayin’.

PLEASE, if you’re not going to install an alarm system on your home, and you are leaving your home, put your jewelry in an odd place like a cereal box or a cookie jar or some other strange place. DO NOT leave your good family heirlooms in a jewelry box on top of your dresser. That’s the first place these people look.

Stay safe, stay vigilant,
Kristin Ottolino
