Homicides – 1886-2008 — 6 Comments

  1. Nixon a republican president wanted a ban on cheap $10 handguns back when he was president. So this isn’t a new debate.

Get over it and pass background checks universally, training for gunowners, and reporting of missing guns.

  2. Why should honest citizens be forced to endure background checks when your government:

    1. refuses to keep convicted criminals off the streets with early release programs?

    2. refuses to house the mentally insane even when relatives request it?

    3. releases thousands of criminal illegal aliens?

If your government would enforce existing laws, we would not need background checks!

Background checks have a very minimal impact on crime reduction.

All they do is increase government employment and inconvenience honest people.

  3. As to the subsequent effect from 4 states moving to issue concealed weapon permit on the homicide chart, it should be noted that Nov. 1993, The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act and Sept. 1994, The Violence Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act also were passed.

Thus, it is said, that there are lies, damn lies and statistics.

I wonder why laws banning the carry of concealed weapons were passed in many states from 1813 in Ky to 1897 in Tx

    Good hunting?

  4. Actually, the NRA supported an Illinois bill to ban Saturday night specials in the 1970’s. I believe it passed. Roman Kosinski was the sponsor.

  5. I’m waiting for the Joe Biden Double Barrel Shotgun to show up at Wal-Mart in a pink box marketed to soccer moms.
