Drugs Found in the McHenry County Jail

Drugs have been found in the McHenry County Jail.

Drugs have been found in the McHenry County Jail, apparently the kind that need a needle to use.

When I was on the Prison Reform Committee in the Illinois House during the late 1990’s, I expressed my constituents’ and my lack of belief at why the Illinois Department of Corrections could not keep drugs out of state prisons.

After all, there are only three main access points:

  • the visitors
  • the vendors
  • the guards

The guards’ union got really disturbed when I uncovered statistics that showed a higher percentage of correctional officers than inmates testing positive for drugs in some prisons.

Today an indictment from the McHenry County State’s Attorney reveals that the Sheriff’s Department has been unable to keep drugs out of the McHenry County Jail.

Here’s the information that appeared today on the State’s Attorney’s press release about indictments:

  1. I BELIEVE, and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, that, upon your arrival and beginning of the processing stage, if drugs or hypos or anything else is found on your person, you can be charged with bringing drugs into a penal institute.

Try and guess where men and women may hide their stash that they believe NO ONE will search.

Not to mention swallowing it and them bringing it back up.

  2. If you read through the complaint and subsequent indictment you’ll see that the initial arrest occurred around 1130PM on the 16th and the charges relating to possession in a penal institution occurred on the 17th.

    Looks like AZ is correct.

Dummy was holding and the street deputy may have missed it because he didn’t strip search him on the street or check out his…

Good thing the dope (there IS a reason they call it dope) had it well hidden.

Don’t think that I’d want a needle stick off of something that had been in that moron.

  3. If anyone bothered to look at the chronology in the circuit court records, the initial charge for “contraband” was for a syringe on date of arrest(4/16); the other “contraband” charge (for controlled substance) did not appear until over a week later while the guy was already in custody in jail..

if they originally arrested him with just a needle, wouldn’t they monitor him & have some concern & search him then?

    Odd.

Guess the correctional officers slacking off must have something to do with the statistics mentioned in the article…

and the lack of correct dates & chronology leads readers to believe that this guy was ” carrying” around a whole lot when he was arrested-which shows some slacking on giving accurate info on the writer’s part…

oh, we’ll-people eat up half-truths in half-baked articles as long as there’s something to breed disdain, judgement & hate.

I’m with the skeptics that look for the whole picture-especially when small but important details are overlooked or left out…God bless you all.

  4. why arent gang bangers just exterminated on site???

they serve no purpose, and as far as im concerned they are bigger terrorists than what the news portrays as terrorists.

they are scum, and if you are lucky, 1 out of 1000 can maybe be changed a little, but the thug mentality will always be there……there is zero purpose for them to be kept alive

  5. How perceptive for Willie to make an assumption that everyone arrested for drugs is a gangbanger! He must be the same guy perpetuating the stereotype that all caucasions are redneck racists! Very astute Willie! Maybe he posted his comment on the wrong topic-cause he goes to rant about terrorists…maybe 1in a 1000 readers that leave comments know how to address the actual topic.
