$38/hour, at 40 hours/week, at 52 weeks/year- that’s $79,040/year.
Imagine earning that much money, and not lifting a finger….
You don’t take holidays and vacations off, John?
No- pensions don’t take holidays or vacations.
It’s a joke, boy, a joke! The author’s state pension is just over $79,000/year, for a whopping 16 years of service(1973-81, 1993-2000).
If you’re wondering- I’m an owner and director of a 130 year old manufacturing firm, and earn about half that. And am paid a salary- which means I get paid on holidays and vacations. Salaried employees receive a regular paycheck- whether they are at work, taking a holiday, or on vacation. The annual salary stays the same.
Ironically, Phil Pagano was a salaried employee, and no one bothered to ask why Jack Schaefer wrote ‘vacation pay’ checks out to him.
Actually, my pension represents 24 years of employment: 16 in the Illinois House, 4 as McHenry County Treasurer and 4 in the Dept. of Central Management Services.
