How appropriate that Naperville should dedicate a new bathroom by flushing a toilet!
The ceremony brought back the most innovative dedication ceremony I can remember.
It was in the 1970’s and took place in Island Lake.
A new sanitary district, then called the Island Lake Sanitary District, was about to begin operation.
The officials invited folks to their “Royal Flush.”
I wish I still had the brochure.
When I wrote a story about the district, now renamed the Northern Moraine Water Resource District, I called and asked if anyone had the program in a filing cabinet.
Alas, no one even knew of the ceremony.
What in the world is in that toilet? I’m half blind but it looks like a pigs head.
