Suspect Apprehended in Home Invasion – Attempt Homicide – Crystal Lake

On Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at approximately 4:17 a.m. Crystal Lake Police were summoned to a residence in the 1500 block of Isle Royal Circle, (Crystal Lake) responding to two subjects injured in the home.

Upon arrival officers located a 28 year old female resident and her 23 year old boyfriend within the residence, both suffering multiple stab wounds. Both were transported to area hospitals in critical condition. The offender had fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

The Investigation revealed this incident is a case of domestic violence. A suspect was developed, and the McHenry County Major Investigations Assistance Team (MIAT) had been activated to assist Crystal Lake Police with this on-going investigation.

The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized warrants for the arrest of Jimmy Bell Jr*, male/black, 30 years of age, (of Elgin, Illinois), for two counts of Attempt Homicide.

Bell was believed to have been driving a Red Honda Accord, bearing Illinois registration of 5566117, and was presumed to have left the State of Illinois.

On Monday, July 08, 2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Jimmy Bell Jr. was arrested in Tuscaloosa, Alabama by members of the US Marshal’s Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Tuscaloosa Alabama Police Department.

Bell is believed to have travelled to Alabama where he has family, immediately following the incident in Crystal Lake.

He was arrested without incident in the home of a cousin.

Bell is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

The 28 year old female victim has been released from medical care, while the 23 year old male victim remains in stable condition at an area hospital.

The Red Honda Accord has yet to be recovered.
