Village Officials Announce the Purchase of Property for Downtown Parking Lot

Fox River Grove, IL. Village officials recently announced the purchase of a vacant piece of property on the southeast corner of Opatrny Drive and Lincoln Avenue for a future downtown parking lot.

“Finding parking has always been a challenge for customers wishing to visit the downtown. The purchase of this property will allow the Village to build a convenient parking facility for customers visiting downtown businesses,”stated Village President Robert Nunamaker.

Construction of the parking facility is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2014.

Construction of new downtown parking facilities is part of the Village’s overall plan to enhance the  downtown. Construction of new Metra commuter facilities, which includes a warming station and a full service depot, will be completed by October.

The Village recently established a Façade Grant Program to encourage businesses to improve the exterior appearance of their businesses.

  1. This is one of the best ways to slow down Agenda 21 – pave the downtown areas of Villages, Towns and Cities.

Paving downtown areas also helps ensure continued car traffic in downtown areas – at least during prime commuter times.

Paving downtown areas also prevents ‘affordable housing’ being built close to train stations, again to slow down Agenda 21.
