All,

We received a report of a motor vehicle that was burglarized between the night of August 26th and morning of August 27th. The vehicle had several items removed; one of which was a bullet magazine / clip with unspent cartridges / bullets still inside. The unlocked motor vehicle was parked across the street from Locust School.

Subsequently the magazine / clip was recovered at Locust School on August 27th on the playground by staff who were alerted by a student who initially found the magazine.

Of course the location of the magazine has created some concern, but it has nothing to do with the school. MPD remains vigilant and regularly patrols all of our educational facilities many times during the day and will continue to do so as regular standard operation procedures.

If you need further clarification please do not hesitate to contact me directly at 815-568-7231 or jhallman@cityofmarengo.com
