You know I try to keep readers up on mentions of McHenry County in Chicago media, especially newspapers.

As I was reading the Sun-Times today, I found Woodstock mentioned in Mary Mitchell’s column.

She talks of sex trafficking being local, not just a foreign problem.

Mitchell quotes Brittany Featheling, now 20, but 14 when she first ran away from home in Ohio.

She’s in Cook County Jail, charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. She is undergoing substance abuse treatment.

Here is Mitchell’s rendition of the McHenry County connection:

“About two years ago, she picked up a man in Niles who drove her to his home in Woodstock.  After completing a sex act, Featherling said the man tied her to his furnace, raped her, videotaped her in various positions, beat her and threatened her with a guy before letting her go.

“I later found out this man had done this to 20 other girls,” she said.

That man has been apprehended and has been charged with criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

I wonder if she was one of women victimized by Charles R. Oliver.
