Maggie Auger Announces her Re-Election Bid for Kane County Board

ALGONQUIN – Margaret “Maggie” Auger announces she will seek re-election for the Republican nomination for Kane County Board, District #23 in the 2014 Primary.

“I have diligently worked to serve the residents of the district as well as all the taxpayers of Kane County. I will continue to look at all sides of an issue with an independent mind and vote with the residents’ best interests. I would be honored to continue to serve on the Board if re-elected by the District #23 voters in Algonquin and Carpentersville.”

Since being elected to the County Board in 2010, she has served as Vice-Chair on the Transportation Committee, Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee, Judicial/Public Safety Committee, Executive Committee, Development Committee and the Legal Affairs Committee. She is also the Treasurer of the DUI Task Force, Chaired the Public Aid Committee, was a member of the Northwest Water Planning Alliance and serves the Forest Preserve District on Planning and Utilization Committee and

Executive Committee. If re-elected she will:

  • Promote fiscal responsibility
  • Advocate for transportation improvements
  • Promote quality of life improvements
  • Work to improve economic development and job creation

Auger brings three years of service from the County Board, and an additional 18 years of public service on advisory commissions in the Village of Algonquin. These include:

  • Planning & Zoning Commission, Chairperson 1999-2010
  • Plan Commission 1997-1999, Chairperson 1998-1999
  • Economic Development Commission 1992-1997, Chairperson 1995-1997

In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother and serving her community, Auger brings the credentials of a successful attorney since passing the Bar in 1983. Currently, Auger practices at a Crystal Lake law firm. Auger’s credentials include:

  • Graduate of the Ted Spella Leadership School 2006-2007 class of the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce
  • Good Sense Ministry and Financial Peace University table leader – Willow Creek Church
  • Certified Arbitrator for the 22nd Judicial Circuit in McHenry County
  • Member of the Kane County Bar Association
  • Juris Doctorate degree from the School of Law, Northern Illinois University, 1983
  • Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University with emphasis in Early Childhood Education, 1978

  1. Maybe there was something in the water when they built Maine North HS. Go Norsemen!!

    Maggie (Margaret Castagna) and I lived a few doors apart in the early 70s HS days. We’re both MN class of 1974. After we left they shot “The Breakfast Club” there in the early 80s.

    How’d we both get dragged into politics?!
