A press release from Mary McClellan about her candidacy for the Republican nomination for McHenry County Clerk:
Mary McClellan Running for McHenry County Clerk
I served on the County Board this last year and it has become apparent to me how important these positions are and how important the unbiased ethical standards of a person who seeks elected office should be.
I will bring you a fair, unbiased, accurate, efficient and ethical standard in my everyday work for you.
I have brought fresh ideas and positive solutions to McHenry County Board I would now like the opportunity to bring the same to the County Clerks office.
During these difficult economic times, it is more important than ever to know who your elected officials are and what they stand for. I met many of you as I walked door to door. It is great to discuss the issues and listen to your individual concerns. I am passionate about improving the quality of life and future of McHenry County.
I graduated from McHenry County College after returning to school as a single mother.
I then obtained my Bachelors Degree from National Lewis University in Business administration and went on to obtain my law degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
I attended school in the evening and worked full time all through the years I attended school. I met my husband here in McHenry County 22 years ago. We have raised our family and continue to have a vested interest in the community.
I have run a small business, worked my way through college. After law school I went to work for the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s office and worked side by side the County Board members.
I then went into private practice where I defended civil rights cases for the Sheriff of Cook County and other municipalities. Additionally, as a states attorney we support the County Clerk in each election enforcing the election laws that provide a fair, unbiased, accurate and efficient election process.
You are an awful attorney if an $100k/year civil servant position is a great opportunity.
@mattmac — You do know that not all opportunities are about money, right?
It’s not about the salary, it is about the retirement plan and other benefits plus an end to the Chicago commute.
