“For those of us who drew two-year terms, we must begin our campaigns to retain our seats less than a year after taking office,” said Gottemoller, a partner at Madsen, Sugden & Gottemoller in Crystal Lake.

“I have enjoyed my first nine months on the County Board, and look forward to continuing my service to the residents of District 3.”

Gottemoller, 55, was elected to the County Board in 2012 for his first term in District 3, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Planning & Development Committee. He also serves on the Law & Justice and Liquor & License Committees.

In his role as P&D chair, Gottemoller is overseeing the creation of the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).

“The project is a first for the county,” said Gottemoller. “The purpose of the new ordinance is to coordinate county’s zoning and subdivision ordinances while bringing them both up to current standards.”

Gottemoller, who has been practicing law since 1982, has spent much of his legal career working on zoning and municipal law matters. As an attorney, he has earned the highest possible rating for ethical standards and professional ability by Martindale Hubble.

Prior to being elected to the County Board in 2012, Gottemoller served on the McHenry County Conservation District and several other boards, commissions and community groups. He continues to be an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Crystal Lake and the McHenry County Republican Party.

  1. He is the real deal all right!

You will like his “real deal” if you support the “head in the sand” approach of the current GOP hierarchy!

Based on blogs and other news venues he certainly supports non-transparency!

  2. I just figured Fukoku’s comment would let everyone know where he stands . . . !!

  3. Don’t you people read?

    Voting for less transparency were

    Michele Aavang
    Nick Chirikos
    Sue Draftkorn
    Joe Gottemoller
    Tina Hill
    Ken Koehler
    Mary McCann
    Mary McClellan
    Anna May Miller
    Robert Nowak
    Carolyn Schofield
    Paula Yensen

This, pretty much, says it all.

  4. Stalker Duncan is a paid mule for Mr. Corruption himself, Louis Bianchi to harass people like me that support our new McHenry County Sheriff Andrew Zinke.

Hey mule, it’s a nice day today, did you wash your boss’s car?

  5. My property taxes have sky rocketed while my home has lost $50K in value the past 4 years.

In fact, my taxes are some $8,000 more per year than for a similar value home in Wisconsin, the sales tax in McHenry County 3% higher than in Wisconsin, we have a sugar tax and Joe is getting $82K plus earning a cushy pension and health insurance while working part time.

I know a lot of people who are working two full time jobs just to make ends meet while being taxed out of their homes.

We have 24 board supervisors for McHenry County.

    Why?

I know for a fact that in other states there is one supervisor per district.

To me this upcoming election is not about re-electing a full time Personal Injury Lawyer working part time for the county and billing the tax payers for a full time job but whether we can afford having 24 supervisors doing the same thing.

We should be given that choice to make.
