McHenry County College to Hear Health Club-Health Sciences Report Tuesday at 6

The driving force behind several successful candidacies for the McHenry County College Board last spring were referred to in shorthand as the “Health Club.”

The cost was to be in the neighborhood of $42 million.

The general proposal was that the MCC Board would enter into a public-private partnership in which a health club, presumably run by Power Wellness, the consultant doing the study, would provide a large part of the money to finance the club and health sciences classrooms.

In a Power Point presentation a lot of the rest would come from increased student fees and tuition.

These major streams of income would provide, it was said, for repayment for non-referendum bonds.

Here are the numbers that surfaced the end of 2012.

The original time line would have seen the non-referendum bonds sold this past summer.

A planning group has been holding secret meetings for well over a year.

The report is due to be delivered at tonight’s 6 meeting at the campus.

  2. Thank you Chris Jenner!

This is a high level of transparency and government concern by a board member looking out for the best interest of the people being served and the taxpayer footing the bill.

Please keep the passion and focus.
