Anyone interested in learning more about the direction of local hospital care, and the concerns of some area physicians with regard to a number of actions taken by the current Centegra administration, is encouraged to attend.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn, 800 S. Route 31, Crystal Lake.

Topics up for discussion will include:

  • Hospital privileges, the move toward salaried hospitalists versus independent doctors, and the ramifications for patient care as well as hospital system viability
  • Administrative salaries
  • Pending litigation
  • Alleged by-laws changes without notice to or consent of the Centegra Community Governors
  • Clarification of the process for becoming a community governor, and the process for nominating candidates to the Centegra Board of Governors

Community governors, as set forth by the Centegra Health System Corporate Bylaws, include residents of the Centegra hospitals service area who have applied for and been approved for membership after paying nominal dues. This group currently numbers about 266, according to a list provided by Centegra to longtime community governors member Dr. William Dam, coordinator of the special community governors meeting.
