With all the money he has in his campaign fund, State Rep. Jack Franks (D-Marengo) could have run for Governor or any of the other statewide offices except for Attorney General and Secretary of State.

But he skipped the big sweepstakes to run for re-election for State Representative.

He signaled his intentions, not with a press release, but with the passing of petitions at Piggly Wiggly in Marengo on Saturday.

The difference this year is that he has a Republican opponent, Steve Reick. His web site is here.

  1. And for those who missed the Woodstock TownHall with Jack and his sidekick Pam, you will be pleased to know that Jack Franks is responsible for SAVING the State of Illinois one billion dollars in uncollected sales tax due to cash register fraud!

Jack, the guy who claims to vote against all tax increases refers to tax fraud as SAVINGS!

    Interesting.

When you think of Jack, think of Madigan.

A vote for Jack is a vote for Madigan as speaker.

  2. “When you think of Jack, think of Madigan. A vote for Jack is a vote for Madigan as speaker.”

Ah yes, I’m familiar with this: The Fire Madigan Ploy that has been unsuccessful in the last two election cycles for Illinois Republicans.

Riddle me this: In the last few years, name one member of the Democratic Party who has run against Madigan for Speaker. Having trouble aren’t ya? That’s because no one has. If your problem is Speaker Madigan, then your problem is actually party politics pure and simple because BOTH parties almost EXCLUSIVELY vote for their own and not across the isle concerning speaker.

Why would Jack Franks be an exception to this system?

    It’s illogical.

But in another light, I don’t hear the rightful indignation from Democrats EVER concerning John Boehner and his hijacking of the Congress.

Have you heard of a “Fire Boehner ploy” out of the Democratic Party?

Absolutely not because Dems know that trying to hedge an entire election on the Speaker of the House is a losing battle.

Who do Illinois Republicans continue to think that’s a winning strategy?

In closing, it’s wrong to insinuate that Jack Franks is a Madigan shill; that’s just patently false.

Look at their voting records side by side online at Votesmart and you will see how starkly different the two are.

Think I’m not telling the truth?

    Look for yourself.
