A friend of McHenry County Blog discovered how much State Motor Fuel Tax is sitting in Woodstock available for township road commissioner’s to use.  You can read the township by township breakdown of MFT funds waiting to be claimed below:

  • Algonquin – $87,118.80
  • Burton – $19,483.08
  • Chemung – $8,896.11
  • Coral – $1,380.08
  • Dorr – $36,323.40
  • Dunham – $22,349.72
  • Grafton – $58,781.65
  • Greenwood – $10,399.16
  • Hartland – $7,113.12
  • Hebron – $22,977.30
  • Marengo – $15,884.79
  • McHenry – $40,776.56
  • Nunda – $26,224.02
  • Richmond – ($2,576.45)
  • Riley – $1,924.97
  • Seneca – $8,944.58

This money is not contained within township budgets and does not show up in township audits.

  1. Please take note that Motor Fuel Tax is included in the Alden Township Audit.

  2. Is it intentional that Algonquin Township doesn’t include the $87,000 plus in the audit, making their revenue appear less than it actually is?

    wonder if there aren’t other financing sources unreported.

    It use to be called two sets of books.

  4. Other than Alden township, it appears that 16 of 17 townships in McHenry County do not accurately reflect the funds available for road district road maintenance.

  5. What percentage of Motor Fuel Tax transferred to Townships actually is kept by the County who administers all Motor Fuel Tax distributions?
