Illinois government is in terrible shape, plagued by high levels of corruption and too many decisions based on self-interest. It is time for voters to take charge by raising their voices and demanding fair, honest, effective Illinois government. The best way to fundamentally ensure change in Illinois is to establish an independent process for drawing legislative maps. That is why Yes for Independent Maps is working to place a redistricting ballot measure on the November 2014 ballot.

“It is unimaginable in this day and age that some voters are seen as second class citizens because a few individuals have had the muscle to shut them out,” said Treasurer Rutherford.

“That is why I fully endorse Yes for Independent Maps.”

The Yes for Independent Maps coalition aims to fix the broken process by putting an amendment on the November 2014 ballot. Their proposed constitutional amendment would take redistricting out of the hands of politicians and give the power back to the people. This amendment brings independence to a broken, unfair, and secret process that gives politicians too much control.

“We are honored to have such a highly respected statewide leader like Treasurer Dan Rutherford join our bipartisan effort to bring fair and independent maps to Illinois,” said Yes for Independent Maps campaign manager Michael Kolenc.

  1. We lost so much in Illinois in recent years because of the gerrymandered districts.

How did this ever get so out of hand in the first place?

  2. Just redraw Madigans District.

From his house and a 3′ easement, preferably along roads, all the way to any section of McHenry County.

We could run Pee Wee Herman against him and still win.
