CARY – State Representative David McSweeney (R-Cary) is leading a bipartisan coalition of Illinois House members seeking to encourage Congress to support a federal initiative aimed at preserving Illinoisans’ existing insurance coverage either already lost or in jeopardy.

“This issue is too important to stand silent,” stated McSweeney.

“Illinois residents are either losing their coverage or worrying about it, and we’re not even at the point that this law will fully affect businesses and employers. There’s a window of opportunity to proactively help change Obamacare and I think we have an obligation to do so.”

The Illinois House Resolution that will be introduced today specifically calls on Congress to pass the federal resolution, H.R. 3350, introduced by Rep. Fred Upton (R-Michigan) that would permanently allow insurance companies to continue to sell currently existing insurance coverage prohibited by the Affordable Care Act.

In comparison, the Obama administration has taken measures to address concerns indicating it will seek to allow insurance companies to temporarily sell previously existing plans.

“The President’s announcement at his press conference yesterday is inadequate. This isn’t a Republican or Democratic issue, this is about how this law has affected our health care,” added McSweeney.

“And the fact of the matter is that, regardless of where you stand on Obamacare, real people are now losing their coverage creating a need for immediate action.”

The Illinois resolution will be introduced and sponsored by Representatives David McSweeney. Lead co-sponsors include Jack Franks (D, Woodstock), Joe Sosnowski (R, Rockford), Brandon Phelps (D, Harrisburg) and Jerry Costello II (D, Red Bud). Ron Sandack (R, Downers Grove) and Chad Hays (R, Danville) are also co-sponsors.

  1. Unbelievable.

Repubs in this State just don’t get it and never will.

Instead of staying out of this mess or sticking with the call to repeal of a program jammed down their throats, they decide here to get the goo of ObamaCare on their hands as well.

These fools took the blame for the shutdown and Cruz as the Media and Dems blasted and laughed at them.

They now offer to share the blame by helping fix the unfixable.

    Brilliant.

  2. I agree although from a pro Obamacare point of view.

If they think the law stinks so much they should let it go through without arguing and relish if and when it goes bad.

The Upton bill does not address the problems from bankruptcy and people going to the ER when they have an accident or are ill.

Those people then look to the government for help and then Republicans say no taxes can be raised.

Maybe people should be taught to be responsible.

If you can afford your insurance buy it and yes men can pay for maternity because I have never seen a woman get pregnant without sperm from a man.

How ridiculous also are insurance companies who penalize battered women and not the men who terrorized them in the first place.

  3. Karma, youre an idiot, did you read what you just wrote?

So youre saying let it fail, let the people suffer, and then gloate about being right?

Sheesh, sounds just like something a Democrat would do, oh wait, I guess you are one.
