Last Saturday morning Patriots United held a breakfast attended by hundreds.
Tables even overflowed into the exhibit room.
I didn’t get a chance to take notes because I got drafted to take photos.
One of these days, I’ll get around to posting the politicians who attended.

Patriots United Announces Plan for Anti-Trafficking Task Force
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL – On Saturday, February 8th, nearly 400 attendees to the 5th Annual Celebrating Life Unity Breakfast joined in a resounding declaration of support against the insidious enterprise of human trafficking.
Concerned citizens and elected officials came from McHenry, Lake, Kane and Cook Counties and included students from several local high schools and regional colleges including Aurora University and Chicago’s Moody Bible Institute.

joined in a rallying cry of support to end the injustices of modern day slavery known widely as human trafficking.

“We cannot allow this to go unaddressed on our watch.”
Mug shots show how a prostitute’s health deteriorates over time.
The face of human trafficking was clearly illustrated as Laila flashed actual mug shots of women who had been arrested multiple times for prostitution, clearly depicting their declining health.
Of those prostitutes who die, half are murdered.
Her 40 minute talk on the subject had the audience riveted as she showed the horrible effects of pornography and explicit violent acts within video games on a viewer’s brain chemistry, effects that have been proven to be as addictive as heroin.
The message was that pornography leads to sex trafficking. A major supplier of porn was arrested at his home in Algonquin recently.
A call to action was declared by President Joe Edwards stating that Patriots United would lead the creation of a joint task force of
- community organization
- law enforcement
- legislators and
- clergy
to effect positive change in this area.
The crowd filed all the dining area to the last section, where exhibit tables were located.
“Our organization desires to link experts across multiple spheres of influence and jurisdictions to assure we keep our women and children safe.
“Pornography is at the root or sex trafficking,”the slide says.

Patriots United is choosing to betray the classical liberal (“libertarian”) portion of its base (who believe you should be able to do with you body whatever you want) to pander to the fundamentalist religious part of its base.
It all makes sense now.

If you had been at the breakfast which of course you were not, you would have learned as the above article states that 75% of the females in prostitution were first raped often as children.
Do you believe that anyone has the right to anyone else’s body?
Your definition of libertarianism is as confused as you are.
We also watched as documentarians went into Cambodian villages and small Eastern European towns ravaged by political corruption & poverty and saw girls as young as 5 being sold by their parents.

While my heart weeps for all of the people in the world that bad things have happened to, what is your argument to say that pornography causes these horrible things to happen?
What is the causal mechanism that will cause fewer bad things to happen in the world if pornography is outlawed?
The speaker cited academic studies.
The “studies” that demonstrated a link between pornography consumption and likelihood to be a rapist or patron of sex workers has been thoroughly debunked for at least the past decade and a half.

By the speaker’s theory, rape rates should have skyrocketed beginning in the mid 90s because the internet brought on-demand pornography into nearly every American household, and according to her theory we should now have a nation full of sex-crazed predators.
The exact opposite trend is in fact true–there has been a drastic drop-off of rapes over that time period.
According to the Justice Department’s National Crime Victimization Survey, since 1995 the sexual assault rate has fallen 44 percent. Anyone who makes the claim that pornography causes men to want sex more (and thus frequent prostitutes more often) is willfully blind to this fact.
It is absolutely incredible to me how Christian fundies are so willing to lie in support of the cause. This woman intentionally and consciously lied to you.
