A press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department:

Crystal Lake Police Department cautions all citizens regarding solicitation for residential repairs

On Saturday, February 22nd, 2014, a resident of Crystal Lake, a senior citizen, was approached by a crew of three individuals who solicited employment for tuckpointing services to the exterior of the citizen’s residence.

An agreement was made as to the cost of this service, and the individuals received payment. As one of the subjects pointed out their work to the senior citizen, the other two subjects gained entry to the inside of the home.

The senior citizen recognized this was occurring and indicated police would be contacted.

The subjects then fled.

Evidence exists to indicate the subjects had searched through the senior’s bedroom.

  • Subject #3 – 21-23 years of age – Caucasian, 5’7” medium build, wearing cold weather clothing

All three spoke English, with an accent, but also in another language (not Spanish).

They were driving a medium green colored, two-door, standard pick-up truck, with a silver/gray tank mounted in the bed/cargo area directly behind the cab.
