Raging Buffalo Worker Trapped in a Lift

Machinery Entrapment

At 1:46 p.m., March 2, 2014 the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded to 19N475 Route 31, Algonquin, Raging Buffalo Snowboard and Ski Park, for a worker trapped in a lift.

Dispatch was notified by an employee who discovered the entrapped victim in the conveyer lift. The Incident Commander quickly elevated the alarm to a MABAS box for Technical Rescue Technicians and equipment to the scene.

The extra alarm brought over 30 personnel along with four engines, one truck, two squads and two ambulances.

The 17 year-old male victim was extricated at 2:47 p.m. and was air-lifted by Flight for Life to Lutheran General Hospital.

The accident is still under investigation at this time.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District received assistance from Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, Huntley, Fox River Grove, East Dundee, Wauconda, Hoffman Estates, Lake Zurich, Nunda Township, Cary, Fire Departments.

  1. A six digit fine from OHSA for sure.

    Those under 18 cannot and should not be working on this type of equipment.

    They better hope they have really, really good insurance or this will be the end of the line.
