Final Vote Totals Show Slim Prim Victory for Sheriff — 46 Comments

  1. Prim is up by 98 with absentees and earlies counted, and only 47 late absentees or provisionals outstanding.

  2. Sometimes your vote, campaign sign, and door knocking really does count.

    14,516 – 14,418 = 98.
    14,418 / 14,516 = 99.3%.

  3. Prim 14,516 / 28,934 = 50.17%

    Zinke 14,418 / 28,934 = 49.83%

    50.17% – 49.83% = .34%

    That’s 1/3 of 1%.

  4. Congratulations Bill Prim!!

I’m excited to have a sheriff who proudly wears cowboy boots!

  5. Fukoku and 155 are attending their going away party…lol…

They might as well live it up, before they have to go out and get real jobs.

  6. This is a beautiful thing!

God bless all who worked so hard as this was an incredible effort.

I was blessed to have been at Sheriff Elects election watch party. What was so compelling to me was once the votes were secured and victory seemed certain, like ants in a line, many, many Deputy Sheriffs living under the current Nygren/Zinke rule of terror, finally felt safe showing their faces.

What a wonderful sight it truly was. I hope you all know how much we value you as awesome men and women, as well as awesome, honest and hard working protectors of your communities.

To Bill Prim; May you and your family be blessed as you take on this vital mission of restoring honor and dignity to the McHenry County Sheriffs Department.

Today we honor each other as good, law abiding citizens who place the safety of our neighbors before our own.

It has been a privilege taking this long journey with all of you.

May God continue to bless us all.

    David Bachmann

President of the “Tin Foil Hat Club!”

  7. Hey Teacher and Frank, Now what were you saying? l.o.l.

    Guess the people have spoken.

    Congrats Bill !!!!

  8. That is not what McVote is showing.

    WILLIAM PRIM REP 12836 50.80%
    ANDREW ZINKE REP 12431 49.20%

  9. I don’t think mcvote.com includes the early and absentee votes until two weeks from now when they assume all outstanding absentee ballots have arrived.

Since there are only 47 unaccounted for, even if all 47 come in late for Zinke he’ll still lose by 51.

Assuming there aren’t 51 provisional ballots out there from yesterday, all of which would have to be votes for Zinke, Bill still wins.

Hopefully we won’t have to endure a recount or legal challenge ordeal.

It’s time we all put on the same jersey again and get ready for November.

That goes for the Rauner vs. Dillard/Brady battle and the rest as well.

  10. I would like to congratulate Bill.

He won a hard fought campaign, and deserves the victory.

But I also would like to extend Bill the following advice.

The people you knocked out of power (not necessarily Zinke, but his masters) are bad people.

    They will come at you.

They will use every dirty trick in the bag to ruin you.

Bianchi got a taste of it, and I am sure that if you could get him to speak candidly about it he would say that it just was not worth it personally.

Good luck–election is merely the opening battle of the war, and there will be no peace treaty. You are going to do the right thing for the people of the county, but reform will come with a great personal cost.

  11. Cal, you made a typo in the opening sentence. It should actually read:

“The margin is narrow, but, with all 212 precincts reporting, former Des Plaines Police Commander Bill Prim is leading Patrolman Andy Zinke, MBA by 405 votes.”

  12. Winner gets to meet Jim Harrison, this just became a more interesting race!!

  13. Far4us, I think McHenry County is tired of Attorneys trying to make a name for themselves, especially ones who threaten lawsuits.

Remember back a while and Mr. Harrison was on a rant until the wee hours of the morning.

  14. Congrats to Bill and thanks to Donna and Diane for sticking their necks out and convincing me to do likewise.

This election shows the power of the doorbell and grassroots over slick mailers.

I hope people remember that going forward.

  15. I went out and worked 2 areas..3 and 4 in Marengo with my 13 year old daughter.

We put up signs..went door to door and then hit the business areas.

What better way to teach kids the power of the individual.

If we can do THIS we can CHANGE McHenry County and Illinois for the better..

We don’t stop here. This is just the start.

  16. Congratulations to Mr. Prim and his ilk. You get what you asked for; remember that in the future.

  17. AZ supporter you are as small as an ant.

Teacher you are very quite. l.o.l.

  18. Congratulations Sheriff Prim! Congratulations McHenry County.

You may have saved your backside from the fire. Too bad Illinois is still corrupt.

  19. True- “AZsupporter” hasn’t figured that out yet. He is still working on it..

Hey, no more Fukoku or Teacher 155…. The rest?

…Alright, now the fine folks of McHenry County can now have some peace.

Zinke wasn’t even man enough to congratulate Prim…

  20. Bye bye Andy, maybe you will be able to get a job at Rita or selling cars at Gary Lang.

I hope you realize now how your arrogance cost you

  21. Bill, Congratulations To You !

I always knew that you could do it ! The people now know that they have the Right Man For The Right Time !

Your parents would have been so proud………..I know I am !

  22. Congratulations is a threat ?

All I said was you get what you asked for.

    Good luck with that.

  23. Congratulations Bill and everyone involved.

Beating Andy and the machine behind him is no small achievement.

However, with such a narrow victory I am sure Andy will receive a recount.

Just remember that all the money and power they have will now go to backing Jim Harrison.

The walls of the castle are starting to fall but it’s not over yet.

I hope if Bill does become Sheriff that his office is one of conciliatory actions; an office of honest, transparent government with fiscal responsibility at its core.

This county and this country needs this more than anything.

  24. The Sheriff is a public servant and should be there for everyone, even those who did not support him.

We have forgotten that elected officials work for us.

    Like I said… conciliatory actions….

  25. The “Republican Establishment” is a feckless group of liberal to moderate Republicans who don’t care a lick about the issues, principle, or political philosophy.

They are a loose organization of the people who try to maintain a “country club” of members who get special treatment by those in power.

They don’t like “conservatives” because they know that they vote based on principled issues rather than for the candidate who will simply support the members of the “country club”.

However, don’t over-estimate the political power of the “Establishment”.

They basically are Al Jourdan, a few business budies, and about 300 other politically active conservative-hating Republicans.

At best, with their families, they account for 1000 votes in the county and the ability to raise $40,000.

    That’s it.

    Big deal.

  26. As I worked the district going door to door I was shocked at how many people did not know the goings on in the sheriffs office between the Nygren history and Zinke..

I had newspaper and blog articles with me on a clip board and most people were horrified at whats been going on.

With the loss of good newspapers and many not having home internet connections people don’t get the truthful information as they should.

The articles and behavior spoke for themselves.

    I simply made them available.

  27. I had the same response years ago working on a campaign.

People were just voting for names they knew and assumed that if they recognized the name then they must be doing a good job.

    It was a little frustrating.

  28. I am sure Bill knows the type of people who supported him. He will not let them down.

    They worked countless hours.

They are not the people in McHenry County looking for favors at the expense of the tax payers and morality of the community at large.

Their physical efforts were only outnumbered by the prayers they said or masses they attended to ask for true justice to be returned to our beautiful county.

I truly admire the board members who knew they could be the next targets of evil, but came forth anyway to stand tall for all of our sake. We will not forget those reps who know the history and incomprehensible actions of a agency gone awry and endorsed it.

Justice will not be denied. It has a way of seeking you out and calling your name no matter how you try to cover it up.

To the newspapers who slant and cover up the truth and then rant against the blogs for daring to post the truth…do you not understand why you are heading for extinction?

Why should I pay to be lied to?

To Zane Seipler, I have never met you personally, but you are a shining example to your children of what it takes to be a true man and fight for your honor at great expense to your well being.

I know this vote will not end the evil, but hopefully it will all be brought out into the sunlight if Bill wins the general election.

Finally to the people who have suffered over the years with your personal stories of injustice, I will continue to pray for your hearts to heal.

Andy, it is not too late for you to the honorable thing and congratulate Bill and not waste more of our tax dollars on a recount.

  29. As a family member of one who was crucified by Nygren and his thugish buddies in “Law Enforcement”, I thank you “KnowTruth” for what you said.

Your statement above exudes a passionate and truthful reflection on the pain that was truly experienced by the “targets of evil” – a pithy term.

To those in politics, particularly the County Board, who KNEW what was going on and sat on your hands or didn’t vote with the ruse of “conflict of interest”, and those in the media who enjoyed the pain as interesting to write about, SHAME ON ALL OF YOU.

  30. Cynthia, Rich and Know speak volumes.

Thank You. All the glory does go to God.

I thank Him for raising up the good people to pull this off. Like the man said, “…I know we have more hills to climb.

I’m very glad to be at the top of this one.”

Please, Lord Jesus let the momentum continue.

  31. MCVote (official county figures) has updated their figures since early this morning and MCVote, Daily Herald, and Northwest Herald are as of right now reporting the same 98 vote margin.

    Prim 14,516 votes.
    Zinke 14,418 votes.

  32. Hello to Bill Prim,

    Make me proud.

    Do the best you can.

    Be honest.

Stand against the wind when it’s called for.

After many years of voting and believing in a candidate, it’s gotten a little old watching them turn into what I tried to vote out of office.

I won’t have that many more chances to believe, to support, to care.

If you win the election, please, make me proud.

  33. As to the independent candidate, please stick to being a lawyer.

The public has selected an enforcement officer to be sheriff.

    Don’t ignore their message.

    —————————-

And to the obnoxious commenters on here, grow up and get a life.

Try to make the world a better place instead of continuing as the pending disaster it is becoming.

  34. lol anonymous.

I totally agree with your first three sentences. (I think the obnoxious commentators are gone.)

  35. Anonymous, that’s pretty closed-minded.

What’s wrong with choice amongst candidates?

Harrison has an ‘enforcement officer’ background, why preclude him because he wasn’t in the primary?

  36. Amen KnowTruth!! It’s all in his glory!

Folks worked hard to elect an honest decent cowboy boot wearing man to our Sheriff’s position.

All the Zinke supporters are going to face the wrath of the corruption and wrongdoings of our current sheriff.

How many more victims were too afraid to tell their story!

Every Zinke sign lets me know who is part of the corruption and receiving special favors from our current sheriffs office.

  37. Really??

Because the dems would love to have you split the vote and make it so much easier for them.

Isn’t that the play book argument?

  38. Anonymous , you need to understand what a primary means !!

The public has not selected an enforcement officer to be sheriff.. !!!

The general election will determine who wins the Sheriffs race!!
