Banning Sale of Raw Milk Slipped into Meaningless Restroom Bill

Warner Todd Huston has written about the transformation of a shell bill (one introduced for no purpose other than to be a vehicle for an idea not thought of yet) that he says demonstrates

“the kind of crap that makes all politics seem crooked, conniving, scheming, and corrupt.”

The title of his article is

The amendment to HB4036 would prevent the sale of non pasteurized milk products.  Dan Burke is the sponsor.

Why is Huston so interested?

“I do love the taste of freedom and liberty and despise the bitter fruit of government regulations.”

Speaking of milk, I read that the first Mayor Richard Daley’s father was a milk inspector for the City of Chicago.

I wonder if he route took him to McHenry County.

  1. It is currently legal to sell raw milk in Illinois if the customer comes to the farm and brings his/her own container.

  2. Hard to believe the MC health department would still allow this since the McHenry County Historical Society’s experiences…

I am not affiliated with the MCHS so I really hope they are not attacked by the MCHD for my comments..

  3. We need to fight for an amendment to the Illinois Constitution to require that all amendments to bills be germane to the original bill.

Similar provisions have helped in other states.

  4. Raw milk and bathrooms, huh?

It’s almost like Illinois lawmakers are living in an alternate universe…

This really illustrates why we have one of the highest outbound migration rates in the country.
