Jim Harrison’s Sheriff’s Bid Attracts More Money — 24 Comments

  1. Both are large plaintiff’s asbestos firms.

Considering that Jim Harrison will have nothing to do with tort reform, what’s their dog in the fight?

Did Jim do some plaintiff’s-side work and befriend these guys?

  2. I think Harrison is going to have to depend on his attorney friends.

He is an attorney not a good candidate for the Sheriff’s department.

Bill Prim has all the qualifications and experience to become the next Sheriff.

  3. If you think about it at least Harrison is getting free advertisement for his own law practice.

By his own resume he is not really qualified to become the next Sheriff.

His resume goes on forever about his law qualifications but when it comes to experience in the Sheriff’s department that was what 25 years ago and by his picture he was very young out of the academy and for only 8 years.

Bill Prim does have all the needed qualifications and experience to become the next Sheriff.

  4. Even I never thought of that.

Why would a apparently successful attorney with years of experience and must be very profitable want to give that all up to run for Sheriff and give up his law practice?

  5. Voter, you grossly overestimate how much the average lawyer makes around here.

  6. “Bill” Harrison?

    Jim is very well qualified.

Not only 8 years as a McHenry County Deputy and 12 years as a Special Assistant State’s Atttorny, but a great deal of knowledge from defending AND bringing suit on police misconduct cases.

Mr. Prim, on the otherhand, has no college degree, never even took the Leutenant’s Exam and has a long record of being “The Right Man” at “The Right Time” to protect citizens from being beaten by Officer under his command, but failed to protect us.

All of you 2nd Amendment fans(Yeah, I’m one too.) need to ask: If Bill Prim failed to uphold the 4th and 14th Amendments, how can he be trusted on the 2nd?

All of our Constitutional Rights are interdependent.

    Weakening one weakens them all.

  7. It has been grossly underestimated how much some people, (I won’t mention names) have made on those famous TV shows “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price is Right”

They love their over buttered popcorn…. lol..

Not to say Harrison will partake.

    Just saying..

Believe me, the benefits of those roles are far greater than being a lawyer in McHenry County.

I know who the players are…

    Lawyer up to cover up?

That seems like a viable option for any Master manipulator…

Not saying that is on Harrison’s agenda.

Remember, manipulative people are always strategizing and making their next plan to change and get away with something.

It is no secret that there is a lot to cover up in McHenry County..

The deals and payoffs are real.

My self and others have been made offers to pay off judges in exchange for something.

In my case, they wanted me to pay to keep custody of my child.

For that reason the case was removed from the State of Illinois.

I wasn’t going to pay anyone to keep my child.

Anything, that has taken place in McHenry County in relation to corruption is far greater than the days of Greylord in the Chicago court system, whereby police officers, lawyers and Judges went to Federal prison.

Stay tuned, to be seen at a McHenry County Theatre near you…

  8. Just Joe.. The college degree is not everything.

Relevant experience weighs more, when you have years of experience..

Recruiting candidates across the Country and from around the globe is my speciality.

One of my candidates received a $30,000 increase in salary.

He had nothing more than a 2 year degree from Devry.

When the negotiating phase took place, he had 2 prestigious Corporations in a bidding war.

Those companies wanted nothing to do with the candidates that had a far superior education.

My colleagues tell me that in their entire careers, they had never seen such a significant increase in salary..

The candidate became an expert his his field, because he had a passion for his industry and buckled down so he could learn everything about his industry.

So there you have it, it’s not just a degree that is factored in, it is the candidates entire background including experience..

    “EXPERIENCE TRUMPS A DEGREE”

Experience is the decisive overriding factor when choosing anyone for a job.

So your argument, that Harrison is the better candidate because he has a college degree is invalid and meaningless..

Harrison’s talents would be better served as an Attorney.

It is my understanding that he has no experience in law enforcement.

Bill Prim is the man for the job, and the person best suited to clean up the McHenry County Sheriffs Department.

  9. I have seen so so many people with degrees fall flat on their faces because of no experience in a field they are working in.

Who says you have to advance to a Lt. position after being a Sergeant?

I was a Sergeant and never wanted to be a Lt.

I also never had a college degree but knew more than the top people who got there because of a college degree but knew nothing about how a Sheriff’s department was run.

You MUST be able to identify with the other deputies on the street and in other units to effectively lead them.

Bill Prim has that education and experience.

You also have to have the ability to manage the department for the benefit of the people of McHenry County.

Prim has that and it is current not 25 years ago.

At 8 years in a department you are just learning the ropes.

As the campaign goes further I can go more into that.

What education he had was the basic academy classes.

Beaten by officer under his command.

Person was not under his command so I think you should get your story straight before you throw out those allegations.

    You know nothing………..

  10. Just Joe, Did you forget about the Degrees Zinke had ?

It didn’t seem to do him any good……experience counts.

Harrison has ONLY 8 yrs. on the force, that’s not even enough time to get his feet wet !

  11. So Degrees and education are bad?

8 years of Deputy Sheriff experience and 12 years as a Special Asst. State’s Attorney, suring and defending many police misconduct cases and being a life long county resident doesn’t count?

Duncan, sure Bill Gates has no degree, but any of your clienst hiring “C” level executives without a degree?

Anotherwatcher: So we should go the Taliban, Boko Harun path of eliminating education?

Voter On: My facts come from Deputy Chief Angela Burton’s internal investigation for the Des Plaines PD and the Arbitrator report. What facts don’t I have right? Was not officer John Bueno beating civilians, lying underoath and fabricating evidence when Bill Prims called him, “A very, very good cop who keeps informed every step fo the way”?

  12. Just Joe, do you know Teacher 155?

She also didn’t know what she was talking about.

No one is debating Harrison’s attorney qualifications.

No,8 years is nothing to qualify you becoming the Sheriff.

No one is knocking education but you must have that education in the
    right place.

You are also not reading the WHOLE DesPlaines case and that is such old news. You have to get better than that to dismiss the credibility of Mr. Prim.

Read Prims resume and then tell me something and that Harrison is more qualified.

Mr. Harrison left the Sheriff’s department and went on to being an attorney which is fine because that is what he wanted to do.

So with his background why doesn’t he go for being a
Judge as that usually follows in being an attorney?

  13. Voter, that is what most people would, go for being a Judge . . .

I think he would fit right in, in McHenry County.

But for some reason I have this strong reason on why he has to be Sheriff . . . follow the money and see who signs hi petitions.

  14. “Just Joe” I never said that a degree is bad.

However, experience in an industry will always weigh more when candidates are hired.

YES. There are many many corporate executives without degrees.

No, education should not be eliminated…

You are right Bill Gates does not have a degree.

    Great example, Joe.

  15. I have stock in Microsoft and I’ll have stock in Bill Prim.!!!

    Both are winners

  16. o.k. Joe so

I asked you to read Bill Prims resume and his experience in law enforcement and then read Harrisons and tell me who is more qualified.

I haven’t heard back so I guess you can see Prim is overly qualified in all areas in run the Sheriff’s department.

  17. From Mr. Prim’s resume:fully responsible for the organization, scheduling, training, evaluating and guidance of 24 officers” and “providing administrative assistance in matters relating to the development of policies, procedures, operations and the budget for the department as a whole.”

We know he was John Bueno’s Supervisor and aware of at least two instances of Bueno’s undocumented use of force against civilans; gave positive evaluations to Bueno during therelevant time period; testified for Bueno at arbitration hearing and retired on short notice days before the new Chief started.

If was involved in suprvising 24 Officers AND worked on the budget how could he not have known about the fraudulent DUI reports for the STEP program?

Deputy Chief of Police Rozkuszka refused to allow the abuse of citizens and their rights. He was fired for taking a stand.. The City of Des Plaines settle with him for $200K which seem to vindicate him. Bill Prim did nothing except maybe give Bueno a head up.

BOTTOMLINE: Bill Prim ws The Right Man at The Right Time to protect people and their rights and stop fruad and did nothing. If he did not know I question his competence, If he did know and failed to act he is a villian.

  18. Hey Just Joe, I am still waiting for the land records….

    That should be public information….

You know the land next to the courthouse that was sold to Harrison?

He has yet to answer my question…

So simple, just give us all an answer.

    How much land?

    How much was it worth?

How did he get in on that land deal?

    Answer the questions…

If there is nothing to hide, there is everything to disclose to the people of McHenry County..

    Still waiting….

Just a thought, you may want to be careful about what you say about Des Plains and Bill Prim because you do not have all the facts and if you do have the facts you are twisting the facts….

    Sound familiar “Fukuko” ?

  19. Most of all, how much did he make on that deal?

Come on Jim tell us we would really like to know the facts about that particular real estate transactions…

Let’s see, it just so happens that I have the Court land file…

    Very, very, interesting…..
