I read the Chicago Tribune editorial Sunday.
It was about about Democrats and income taxes.
There’s a delightful cartoon of a donkey getting ready to impale a guy with the word “Jobs” on his shirt with a second big tack. (The first reads, “Temporary,” the second, “Fair.”)
At the bottom of the editorial is a little section entitled, “Video of the tax debate.”
The video features four legislators, Democrats Sen. Don Harmon and Rep. Christian Mitchell, plus Republicans Sen. Matt Murphy and Rep. David McSweeney.
You can watch the discussion here. It’s an hour long. (I couldn’t get it to play.)
The legislation that is do to hit the House this week merely says “Instead of the legislators dictating a possible change to the Illinois Tax Code, allow the voter through a referendum to decide.
I don’t care what side of the aisle you sit on or whether you support a flat or progressive tax, allowing we the people to have a “voice” is the right thing to do.
Call you State Reps this week and tell them to ask the Speaker to “Call the Vote”
