Jury Scam Notice

WOODSTOCK, IL – Recently the Twenty Second Judicial Circuit of McHenry County was made aware that there have been a couple of attempts to use missed jury service as a means to defraud McHenry County citizens.

The victim receives a phone call informing him/her that an arrest warrant had been issued for the victim’s failure to appear for jury duty.

The caller informs the victim that $500.00 is needed to post the bond for the warrant and that the matter should be taken care of as soon as possible in order to avoid incarceration.

The caller then instructs the victim that the bond must be posted using an e-pay card.

Any person receiving such a telephone call should report it to their local law enforcement agency for investigation.

All correspondence regarding missed jury service will originate from the McHenry County Jury Commission Office located at 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, Illinois and will be in written form.

  1. There are far more massive shakedowns than that perpetrated on the tax-paying saps on a regular basis.
