Mark Kirk Says He Puts Country Before God

A Crystal Lake Tea Party email yesterday was nothing short of stunning.

Editor Mary Alger found an article by Bryan Kemper entitled,

What Would You Say if You Sat Next to a Pro-Abortion U.S. Senator on a Plane? Here’s What I Did

The article was published in LifeNews.com.

It is well worth reading, if you would like to know how Republican U.S. Senator Mark Kirk thinks.

The author was wearing an “I am the generation that will abolish abortion” t-shirt on the plane.

Wearing a Naval uniform, Kirk told of his opposition to human trafficking.

He attempted to change Kirk’s mind about abortion, but Kirk seems to say his pro-abortion position is necessary to get re-elected in Illinois.

Kirk said he “was just being wise because he knows how liberal politics are in Illinois and he needed to keep his seat. He said it was very tricky, sort of like threading a needle. He kept talking about politics and how his seat will be the most targeted Republican seat in the next election.”

And, then, the stunner:

“I point blank asked him which came first to him, God or country?
“He said country.”

  1. At first, I thought that his announcing that he plans to spend eternity in Hell has no bearing on why I would never vote for him.

Now I am thinking it goes to motive.

No wonder I never trusted this man.

  2. Bravo, Senator Kirk!

Again here is another reason for our constitutional separation of the state and the intolerant religious …. who think they represent all citizens.

I also put country and our flag before any group of people who belonging or relating to a monastic order or other group of people who are united by their practice of religion.

  3. Loaded questions like that are only designed to sell newspapers.

Most people do quite well reconciling and choosing appropriately.

It is only the religious fanatics who insist their got must always come first.

I would really like to see Congress solving the plethora of problems we have one at a time rather than fighting ideological wars.

  4. Do you notice that the intensely intolerant language repeatedly comes from the non-religious.

Such vitriol is almost always directed AT Christians – suggesting it is Christianity that is intolerant.

    What an intellectual laugh.

  5. “Do you notice that the intensely intolerant language repeatedly comes from the non-religious.”

Yup, you’re right, the intensely intolerant language comes from the non-religious.

  6. Israeli nationalists came to Jesus hearing he was “King of the Jews” and asked him to lead the revolution against Rome.

He told them to get lost as his mission had to do with a far greater kingdom than an earthly one.

Jesus told people the greatest commandment is to “Love The Lord your God with all your heart mind and soul”.

    Earthly empires come and go.

If you truly have a faith live in confidence and love while working hard to be an example others aspire to follow.

If your god is the United States or any earthly government you missed the point.

Who cares what Mark Kirk thinks.

He’s immaterial the instant people find a reason, any reason, to vote him out.

If your reason is the unsubstantiated report of one person “quoting” Kirk then work to find a better Senator.

I’d suggest getting the real quote from the horses mouth first though.

If he really said this once he will again.

  7. FLAT EARTH – Would you be so kind as to direct us to that portion of the Constitution which speaks of separation of Church and State.

I can’t seem to find any such language in my copy….

  8. When will he come out of the closet?

    Before Lindsey Graham?
